September 23, 2025Gazpromneft Begins Production of Modern Synthetic Additives for Automotive Lubricants
from the official release of Gazpromneft Lubricants, October 16, 2025
Gazpromneft Lubricants, the lubricants business operator of Gazprom Neft, has launched the first batch of locally produced synthetic sulfonate additives in Russia. These high-tech additives are essential components in the formulation of modern synthetic engine oils, providing stability, protection, and optimal performance for vehicle engines.
The production technology for these additives was developed by a team of scientists and specialists at Gazprom Neft using domestically sourced raw materials. Production is carried out at the modernized sulfonate facility at the Omsk Lubricants Plant — one of the most advanced lubricant production centers in Russia.
Synthetic sulfonate additives possess strong detergent, anti-corrosion, and neutralizing properties against oxidation byproducts. This helps prevent the formation of deposits, varnish, and sludge in high-temperature areas, thereby extending engine service life.
About Omsk Lubricants Plant
The plant produces more than 300,000 tons of lubricants and technical fluids annually, including automotive, industrial, and marine lubricants, as well as grease products. With the introduction of this new technology, Gazprom Neft further strengthens its independence in the supply chain of key components for modern lubricants.
